Trip Reports
Old Dee Bridge To Ballater
11/02/07
5 kayaks and 4 canoes started at Invercauld and the same number finished at Ballater! The weather was a bit dull and damp but our spirits weren't. The river was bouncy in parts and that made it pretty challenging for some. Despite the wettish weather most of the party stayed dry - well except for Stuart who had a shot of the wavesport and tried some fancy tricks- some worked, some didn't, and me (Aileen) who managed to have a disagreement with a rock which sent me under and had to be towed to safety while Ben chased my kayak. Apart from that, the only other incident worth a mention is Simon's tree-hugging where he got a bit up close and personal! All in all it was a great day with a few surprises and everybody went home tired but happy!
Dinnet To Aboyne
03/02/07
As the AGM crept closer a brave party dared to test the water with a brisk trip down the dee. Fortunately the sun shone, and all involved made it to the end, mostly dry. 22 in number, means it was quite a large trip, but a great combination of canoes and kayaks meant it was great trip for everyone and the balance was just right. The weather couldn't have been better, and brilliant sunshine made the trip an enjoyable experience for all, although at times it did make it hard to see the water... The only major incident worth noting, was the king himself, JK, showing us all how its done, pinning his canoe on a rock, singing girls in tow... Admirably he went down with his ship, whilst the others couldnt help but reach for their cameras. Fortunately the boat did eventually come free, and the trip proceeded to meander down the last section without further incident.
